Mexican American Culture Through the Prism of Maiz

The place of corn in Mexican-American culture will be explored in the exhibit "Mexican American Culture Through the Prism of Maiz." The exhibit focuses on how Mexican Americans continue to be identified as gente de maiz, or people of corn, through ancient and contemporary stories, beliefs, practices, imagery, medicinal practices, art and music. Students from Roberto Rodriguez's Mexican American Studies 319 class served as curators of the exhibit, which is sponsored by the The University of Arizona Libraries, the Mexican American Studies Research Center and Chicano/Hispano Student Affairs.
